Incorrect Historical Rent Charges On Tenant Ledger (Legacy)

This help article contains instructions for the Legacy Version of Rentec Direct. More information about the latest version of Rentec Direct can be found here: The Remodel | Rentec Direct’s Newest Software Update

Once in a while, our support staff receives a call with an alarmed landlord reporting that a tenant has a huge balance in their tenant ledger and they have no idea how to quickly fix it without editing each transaction. If you have just added the tenant into the system and this is you right now, relax, there's a quick fix!

To adjust old rent charges, you can simply adjust the "move-in date" for this tenant to the date you want charges to begin which will adjust off historical charges you do not want to have on the tenant's ledger.

After doing this, you can then adjust the move-in date a second time and reflect the actual date, without adjusting the accounting.

A complete step-by-step walkthrough can be found here: Update Move-In Date for Tenant
