Group Messaging (Legacy)

Within the software, you can send a group message by email or SMS/Text to different groups: 

Send an email or SMS messages to all tenants
Send a message to all owners (for property managers)
Send a message to all vendors
Send a message to all tenants within a single property group OR
Send a message to all owners within a single property group

Group Message For A Single-Unit Property

Sending a group message to all tenants in a single unit property is handled with these easy steps. 

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Go to Tenants.
  2. Right-click on a Tenant's name and choose Email/SMS from the menu options.

  3. Choose Send Email or Send SMS

  4. Click the 'Send to a Group' link.

  5. Follow the direction to 'Click Here to Select a Group' that now populates in the TO field

  6. Select the Group(s).select your groups visual
  7. Create message.
  8. Click Send Message. 

System note: If you select ALL tenants, a message will be sent to ALL tenants listed both active & inactive, but will not be sent to archived tenants.  


Group Message For A Multi-Unit Property

You are able to send messages directly from a multi-unit property such as a duplex, triplex, apartment, condo, etc. 

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click Properties
  2. Right-click on any Multi-Unit Property
  3. Choose Group Messaging.group messageNote: Just like the single-property instructions, you can click in the 'To' Field and select your Group(s) if you want to include other groups. Otherwise, the message will be sent to all the tenants in the property you selected in step 2.  
  4. Create message.
  5. Click Send Message.

Creating Email and SMS/Text Messages

  • Within the messaging tool, you are able to choose a messaging template.

  • You also have database field support where you are able to customize the names and balances of tenants and owners using the Fields drop-down option from the editing menu.

System Note: SMS/Text messages are delivered directly to the owner or tenant’s mobile device in real-time. They can reply directly to you and their replies (as well as your sent message are archived within the system.


Email and SMS/Text Messaging History

 The system tracks all messages sent and any text messages received. You are able to see individual communication with a tenant by returning to their specific Email/Text menu option. All message history is located on the Summary page. 

In your Rentec Direct account:

  1. Click Summary
  2. Click Quick Access Links.
  3. Choose Mailbox.
