Pet Screening for Rental Applications

With an active PetScreening account linked to your Rentec Direct account, you can easily integrate pet screening into your online rental application process.

Once pet screening is required, here's What Happens When Applications Are Submitted:

  • Applicant Link: The applicant will receive a link to "Screen Your Pet" (see example below)
  • Multiple Applicants: If "All Applicants" is selected, each additional applicant will receive an email with a screening link.
  • Automatic Reports: Upon completion of PetScreening by the applicants, you will automatically receive a report, and the information will be accessible in your PetScreening portfolio.

How to Require Pet Screening in Online Rental Applications

When using the online rental application included with your Rentec Direct software, you can choose to automatically require pet screening for only the primary applicant or for all applicants.

In your Rentec Direct account:

  1. Click on Settings
  2. Under Program, click on Rental Applications
  3. Under Default Questionsset Ask primary applicant to list pets? to:
    1. YES: To require Pet Screening only for the primary applicant if they indicate they have a pet.
    2. NO: To require all applicants to complete Pet Screening even if they don't have a pet 


When applicants complete your online rental application, the last page includes a link to Screen Your Pet, and they will receive an email with that link.


Request Pet Screening of Existing Tenants

The following steps will guide you through emailing or texting a link to your PetScreening page to existing tenants.

In your PetScreening.com account:

  1. Click on Settings, then Your Landing Page Link
  2. Click on:
    1. Copy link and paste to an email or text
    2. Share now to share your link to social media

  • There is no fee for housing providers to create a Pet Screening account.

Didn't Receive a PetScreening Report?

If you didn't receive a screening report, the applicant/renter most likely went directly to PetScreening.com instead of using your unique landing page.


To locate the report:

  1. Log in to your PetScreening account
  2. Use the "Global Profile Search" feature under "Profiles"
  3. Search for the individual by their email address
  4. Request access to the report

How to Cancel a PetScreening Account

PetScreening accounts can be canceled by:

  • Sending an email request to support@petscreening.com
  • Log in to your account and click the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of the page to send a request
