Pet Screening for Rental Applications
With an active PetScreening account, you can automatically collect pet and animal information during the application process and have it reviewed by PetScreening.com teams qualified to distinguish between pets, Emotional Support Animals (ESAs), and Service Animals.

What to Expect When PetScreening is Enabled
When you enabled PetScreening, there was an option to screen pets for only the primary applicant or for all applicants.
1) When an online application is submitted, required PetScreening links will be provided to the applicants based on your selection in the Online Renteal Application:
- Applicant Link: The applicant will receive a link to "Screen Your Pet" (see example below)
OR
- Multiple Applicants: If "All Applicants" is selected, each additional applicant will receive an email with a screening link.
2) Upon completion of PetScreening by the applicants, you will automatically receive a report, and the information will be accessible in your PetScreening portfolio.
How to Require Pet Screening in Online Rental Applications
If you choose to require all applicants to complete pet screening in your PetScreening setup, you can require it for all applicants or only the primary applicant in the application options.
In your Rentec Direct account:
- Click Settings
- Under Program, click on Rental Applications
- Under Default Questions, set Ask primary applicant to list pets? to:
- YES: To require Pet Screening only for the primary applicant if they indicate they have a pet.
- NO: To require all applicants to complete Pet Screening even if they don't have a pet
- Save Changes

Now that the default setting is saved, when applicants complete your online rental application, they will receive an email with a link to complete the Pet Screening process.

How to Request Pet Screening for Existing Tenants
The following steps will guide you through emailing or texting a link to your PetScreening page to existing tenants.
In your PetScreening.com account:
- Click Settings
- Click Your Landing Page Link
- Choose one of the following options:
- Copy link to paste into an email or text message
- Share now to share your link to social media

How to Locate a Missing PetScreening Report
In your PetScreening account:
- Click Profiles
- Click Global Profile Search
- Enter the tenant or applicant email address
- Locate the correct profile
- Request access to the report
How to Cancel a PetScreening Account
You can cancel your PetScreening account at any time.
In your PetScreening account
- Click Contact us at the bottom of the page
- Submit a cancellation request
