Update a Lease Expiration Date

You can easily add or update a lease expiration date at any time in Rentec Direct. Keeping lease dates up to date helps you stay organized, plan ahead, and ensure your tenant reports and notifications are accurate.

Why Lease Expiration Dates Matter

Adding a lease expiration date allows the system to:

• Send automatic alerts when a lease is nearing its end
• Include lease details in tenant and management reports
• Clearly distinguish fixed-term leases from month-to-month tenants

Note: If no lease expiration date is entered, the tenant is automatically considered month-to-month.

How to Update a Lease Expiration

The steps below will guide you through adding or updating a lease expiration date.

In your Rentec Direct account:

1. Click Tenants
2. Right-click the tenant and select Update Lease

3. Under Lease Expiration or Rent, enter the Lease Start and End date and New Rent

   Tip: Click on the Rentometer link to view comparable rentals.

   

4. Click Save Lease

Confirm the Lease Expiration Date

After saving new lease information, you can quickly verify the change in any of the following ways:

• In the Tenant Card
• In Tenant Reports
  • Rent Roll or
  • Lease Expiration

Easily view the tenant card.

In your Rentec Direct account:

1. Click Tenants
2. Click on the tenant's name
3. View the Tenant Profile Card on the right-hand side

The lease expiration date will be displayed there for easy reference.

Helpful Tips:

• To switch a tenant to month-to-month, simply remove the lease expiration date and save
• You can also update the move-in date and automatic rent escalation from the same screen
• Keeping lease dates current ensures you don’t miss important renewal opportunities
