1099 Tax Corrections | Federal and State E-filing Corrections
If a 1099 has been filed with an error, corrections can easily be made electronically through Nelco. Be sure to update the corresponding information in your Rentec Direct account to match as needed.
Steps to File a Correction
You can easily log into your Nelco account from Rentec Direct.
In your Rentec Direct account:
- Click on Settings
- Under Tools, click on Utilities
- Click on the 1099 e-File and Print link for more info/costs
- Enter your Username and Password
- Click on Filing Home
- Click on Form Filing History
- Locate the original form you filed and click on the corrections icon
- Under the Correction Type, select Correct. You will be presented with correction options, which include:
- Wrong Recipient TIN, Name, and/or Address
- Wrong Amount or Filing
- Wrong Form Type
- Click on Correct
- Make the necessary changes (corrections)
- Click on Next to proceed to the checkout screen
- Review the cost to submit a correction electronically, which will be displayed
- Click on Pay & Submit
Important Notes:
- If you need to make multiple types of corrections, they must be submitted separately.
- After you submit it, you can print or save the corrected form and your receipt.
- A new confirmation number will appear in your Form Filing History.
