Site Inspection for Credit Reports

To effectively screen tenants and find the best fit, you can request Full Credit Reports with FICO scores using your Rentec Direct software.

A quick site inspection is necessary for all landlords, property managers, and real estate professionals who order complete (full) credit report as part of their tenant screening to help prevent credit fraud and identity theft.

Rentec Direct offers two options to help you screen tenants:

  • Tenant Report Card with FICO score range is a straightforward option that provides a simple snapshot of the applicant's credit. It shows their FICO score within a range and does not require an inspection. You can see an example of the Report Card here
  • Tenant Full Credit Report with FICO score is a comprehensive overview of an applicant's credit history, including their FICO score. You can see an example of the Full Credit Report here

To ensure secure handling of Full Credit Reports with FICO score, all three major credit bureaus—Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax—require a quick site inspection of your office or home office to ensure you have a secure way to access, store, and handle tenant credit report information.

Onsite Inspection

  1. When you apply to run tenant Full Credit Reports with FICO score through your Rentec Direct software, we will order an inspection on your behalf.
  2. An independent contracted site inspector will schedule a time to visit your home/office that is convenient for you for the onsite inspection.
  3. When the inspection agency notifies Rentec Direct that the site inspection has passed, Rentec Direct will provide you with access to complete Full Credit Reports with FICO scores.

During the site inspection, they'll want to verify a few things:

  • That you have a secure office or home office where your computer isn't accessible to the public (a lock on the door or a password-protected computer works great!)
  • You can securely store or dispose of any printed reports, such as a locked filing cabinet or paper shredder.
  • That credit reports are used only for tenant screening
  • And they'll snap a few photos of the location

The inspection company charges a $50 fee. We will never charge you more than we are charged.

While you wait for the site inspection to be completed, your account is fully activated to order
