Notifications and Reminders (Notes)

The notes and reminders interface gives you flexible reminder options throughout the program. You can set a one-time reminder or a recurring reminder for any frequency you choose. Not only will the remind populate a notification on the Summary tab, but they can also be emailed or sent by text to whomever you choose.    
For example, here are a few ideas where reminders might be useful: 
Property Reminder:  Replace batteries in smoke alarms, repeat every 1 year.
Property Reminder:  Send Joe out to clean the gutters, repeat every 6 months.
Property Reminder:  Flush water heater, repeat every 2 years.
Tenant Reminder:  Ask for rental insurance verification, repeat every year.
Tenant Reminder:  Evaluate and increase rent, repeat every 1 year.
Tenant Reminder: Send a birthday card, repeat yearly.

Owner Reminder: Request current W-9 form, repeat yearly
Owner Reminder: Review management agreement, repeat every 2 years.
Owner Reminder: Send a thank you card, repeat yearly. 

Create a Reminder

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click on a Property, Tenant, or Account tab.
  2. Right-click on any property, tenant, owner, or account and choose Notes & History.
  3. Choose add a new note.
  4. Enter the details of the note and click the Enable reminders box.
  5. Set the reminder settings accordingly. 
  6. To send by email or SMS, click the appropriate box and enter the receivers email and/or mobile phone number. 

    Note
    To receive a notification on your Summary tab only, do not select email or SMS.

    Tip: If you want to test the reminder tool, set a reminder for tomorrow with your email address or mobile number and you should get the notification the following day at 8:00 AM Pacific.

Software Notification

Once you have enabled a reminder, you will then get a notification in your notices panel of the Summary tab as shown in the following screenshot.

TipYou can change the default notification time by visiting the Settings tab> Program Defaults


Text Message Replies

There are three locations to find replies to text/sms reminders:  

  1. There will be an unread message(s) notification in the Notices section of the Summary tab.

  2. Also on the Summary tab, choose Mailbox from the Quick Links at the bottom of your account.

  3. On the Tenants tab, right-click on a tenant account and select Email/SMS from the menu to see any replies directly from that particular tenant.
