Sharing Files

You can share files with your tenants and owners within their portals as well as save files related to properties, and even share files with vendors in your Rentec Direct account.

Upload and Share a File

Before you can share a file, you will first upload the document to be shared to a File Library. You have the choice to upload to the master File Library or directly to a specific Tenant, Property, or Owner File Library. The below instructions relate to uploading and sharing from a specific File Library

More information about your master File Library options, size limits, and file types can be found here: File Library | File Storage

In your Rentec Direct account:

  1. Click the desired location such as Tenants, Properties, or Owners

Note: To upload a file directly to a Vendor File Library, click Settings and under the People options choose Vendors & Payees
  2. Right-click on the desired person or property and choose File Library from the menu.
  3. Click the Upload button located at the top of the screen.
  4. After uploading a file, right-click on the file and select File Sharing from the menu. You will be able to share any file to any Tenant Portal or Owner Portal

Tip: From this menu, you'll notice that any tenant and owner associated with a property is highlighted in yellow to make sharing easy. If you uploaded the file to the master File Library or Vendor File Library you will need to decide which Tenant or Owner Portal from the drop-down list.
Once one or more files have been shared with a tenant or owner, they will see a new tab within their portal labelled Files. The tenant or owner can click this tab in their portal to view and download a sortable list of all files shared with them.
