Tenant Portals of Rentec Direct property management software can be easily enabled for primary and co-tenants. This tool provides tenants and co-tenants with instant access to their most current statements, including balance, amount, and due dates. They can also submit work orders, schedule online payments, and more, all from a single platform.

Once the portal is enabled, tenants can quickly log in to their portal from any mobile IOS or Android device.


How to Enable Tenant Portals

Quickly enable the tenant portal and email their login information through Rentec Direct.

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click on Tenants
  2. Right-click on a tenant and select Edit Tenant
  3. Under Contact Info, enter their email address (the email address will be their username)

  4. Under Tenant Portal
    1. Check the Enable box for Tenant Portal Access

    2. Click on the paper/pencil icon to setup a Password
      1. Enter a New Password or click on the circle arrow icon to auto-generate a password


  5. Check the box to Email Tenant to email the password and login information to the tenant
  6. Click on Submit to create a temporary password and send an email to the tenant with information on how to log in
  7. Click on Update Tenant to save the changes

Features of the Tenant Portal

Beyond your custom web address, Tenants can log in to their portal at this universal web address: rentecdirect.com/login and on any mobile device using the Resident Connect Mobile App of the Tenant Portal.

Features available in all Tenant Portals include:

  • At a glance, information on the last payment received, the next payment due, the total currently due, and a payment history chart
  • Every charge and payment posted individually by date in an informative ledger, as well as their deposit balance
  • Tenants access to view files shared in the File Library
  • Schedule and pay rent online and/or find locations to make electronic cash payments if your account is set up for online payment processing and/or cash payments.
  • Option for tenants to update their email address, password, and email notification preferences

Q) Besides paying rent, what other options do tenants have in their portal?

A) With tenant portal options selected in Program Defaults, tenants can:

  • Submit work orders with photos 
  • Purchase renters insurance
  • Enable credit reporting
  • Access shared files
  • View Portal Bulletins - Portal Bulletins allow you to have a message displayed when Tenants log into their portal and allows landlords and property managers to stay in compliance with states that may require specific messaging in Tenant portals

Q) How can I log in as the tenant, to get familiar with portals?

A) Yes, you can quickly log in as the tenant

In your Rentec Direct account:

  1. Click on Tenants
  2. Right-click on the tenant and select Edit Tenant
  3. Under Tenant Portal, click on Log in as Tenant

Q) Can tenants change their personal information?

A) Yes, tenants can change some of their information, including:

  • Email address
  • Password
  • Choose if they want to receive auto notifications you've set for
    • Reminders when payments are overdue
    • Notification of new charges
    • Notification when payments have posted
    • Notifications when work orders have been completed

Q) If a tenant didn't receive an auto generated email with log in information, can I resend it?

A) Yes, you can resend the auto generated email to a tenant by verifying their email is correct and follow the steps on How to Enable Tenant Portals above
