Tenant Portals

Tenant Portals are available for primary and co-tenants in Rentec Direct property management software and are available as a mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

Features of the Tenant Portal

Features available in all Tenant Portals include:

  • At a glance information on the last payment received, the next payment due, the total currently due, and a payment history chart
  • Every charge and payment posted individually by date in an informative ledger, as well as their deposit balance
  • Tenants access to view files shared in the File Library
  • Schedule and pay rent online and/or find locations to make electronic cash payments if your account is set up for online payment processing and/or cash payments.
  • Option for tenants to update their email address, password, and email notification preferences

Optional Tenant Portal Access

The following custom options available in the Tenant portal are included in Step 2 of Rentec Direct account setup. To verify or edit the account setup for the following Tenant portal options, click here Program Defaults:

  • Allow tenants to submit work orders with photos 
  • Allow tenants to purchase renters insurance
  • Allow tenants the option of enabling credit reporting
  • Custom message to be displayed when tenants log into their portal

    Pro Tip: Custom messaging allows you to have a message displayed when Tenants log into their portal and allows landlords and property managers to stay in compliance with states that may require specific messaging in Tenant portals

How to Enable Tenant Portals

Before your tenant has access to a portal, you will first want to enable that option. 

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click on Tenants
  2. Right-click on a tenant and select Edit Tenant 
  3. Under Contact Info, enter their email address (the email address will be their username).

  4. Under Tenant Portal
    1. Check the Enable box for Tenant Portal Access
       
      Enable tenant portal access and create and email a password
    2. Click on the paper-pencil icon to set up a Password
      1. Enter a New Password or click on the circle arrow icon to auto-generate a password

  5. Check the Email Tenant box to email the password and login information to the tenant
  6. Click on Submit 
  7. The Tenant Details page will appear then click on Update Tenant at the bottom of the page

Important NoteIf a tenant did not receive an auto-generated portal email, verify their email address and walk through these steps again.
