Adjusting a Tenant's Rent Amount

Whether you need to correct an error or make an update, you can easily manually increase or decrease the current monthly rent charge for a tenant in the software.

Adjusting a Tenant's Rent Amount

In the event you need to edit the tenant's rent amount, follow these instructions. 

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click Tenants
  2. Right-click the tenant and choose Edit Tenant from the drop-down menu
  3. Under Accounting Defaults click the paper/pencil icon to edit

  4. Adjust the dollar amount accordingly

    System note: The Update Rent Charge screen will alert you if a Rent Escalation has been previously enabled in the system for this tenant which  may need to be cancelled.

  5. Click the Update Rent button when finished

Note: This new rent value will be in effect for all future automatic rent charges. All future rent charges will be based upon the new amount entered.

Adjusting the tenant's monthly rent amount on this screen will automatically update their ongoing recurring rent charges. This will not update any rent charge transactions that have already been posted to the tenant's ledger. Any transactions that have already been posted would need to be edited manually or using the Update Accounting tool.
