Edit Tenant

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click on Tenants
  2. Right-click on a tenant and select Edit Tenant
  3. Under Tenant Details
    1. Enter a Company and/or Name. (If both are entered, the Company Name will be used for statements, reports, and correspondence.)
    2. Tenant Image - There are two ways you can add a tenant's image:
      1. Social Media profile: Set Advanced Program Defaults: Use social image search for tenants and prospects to Yes
      2. Upload an Image: Hover over the photo placeholder, then click Upload a Picture to select an image from your device.
  4. Under Contact Info
    1. Email Notifications -
      1. Enable: Check this box to have the software send auto-notifications to the tenant.
      2. Click on the paper/pencil icon to select which auto notifications you would like sent
    2. Email Address - An email address is required for any email communications to occur through your software
    3. Mailing Address - For use when tenants have a Mailing Address that is different than their residence
    4. Mobile Phone - A mobile phone number is required to send sms text messaging through your software
  5. Under Tenant Portal (allows the tenant to access the tenant portal)
    1. Check the Tenant Portal Access box
    2. Password -
      1. Click on the paper/pencil, then the circular arrow to automatically generate a temporary password.
      2. Check the Email Tenant box to send a welcome message to the tenant with login information.
  6. Accounting Defaults auto-fill from the property profile and accounting defaults, and can be changed here if needed.
    1. Rent Charge - Click on the paper/pencil to enter a rent amount
    2. Overdues - Click on the paper/pencil to set the Overdue limits
    3. Create Invoice - Indicate how many days before rent is due, you would like an invoice/reminder sent to the tenant
    4. Grace Period (days) - How many days after rent due, do late fees begin (if late fees begin on the 5th, enter 4 here)
  7. Under Other Info - Additional Occupants can be noted as needed
  8. Custom Fields - These fields are searchable using the global search tool and can be included as data fields in leases, letters, forms, and messaging templates.

  9. Click on Update Tenant
