What You Can Do with Rentometer

Rentometer helps you get a quick look at how your rental rates compare with similar properties in your area.

When you open a Rentometer comparison, you can:

  • View average, median, 25th percentile, and 75th percentile rental rates from similar local listings.
  • Compare your property's current or default rent with local market data.
  • Select a suggested rental rate to automatically populate the applicable rent field.
  • Order a Rentometer Pro Report for additional market information.

Where to Access Rentometer

Rentometer links are available in several areas of Rentec Direct, making it easy to review rental pricing when managing properties, tenants, or leases.

You can access Rentometer from:

  • Edit Property — Compare a property's default rent with similar local rentals.
  • Edit Tenant — Compare a tenant's current rent with local market rates.
  • Update Lease — Review market rates when determining a new rental amount for a lease.

Review Rental Pricing from Edit Property

Use Rentometer from an Edit Property page to compare a property's default rent with similar rentals in the area.

You can review comparable rental rates and select a suggested rate to automatically populate the Default Rent field.

Software Tip: For multi-unit properties, update individual subunits as needed.

Review Rental Pricing from Edit Tenant

Use Rentometer from an Edit Tenant screen to compare a tenant's current rent with similar rental properties in the local market.

This gives you a quick way to see how the tenant's current rent compares with available market data.

Update a Lease with Rentometer

Rentometer can be helpful when renewing a lease. Review comparable rental rates and select a suggested amount to automatically populate the tenant's New Rent.

This makes it easy to consider current market information when determining a new rental amount.

Rentometer Pro Reports

For more detailed market information, you can order a Rentometer Pro Report from any Rentometer comparison window.

A Rentometer Pro Report costs $1.00 and provides additional rental market details. After ordering a report, you can use the toolbar to modify, save, download, or print the report.

The report remains available for one week. If you need it for your records after that time, download or save a copy.

Important Notes

  • Rentometer provides market insights and suggested rental rates. It does not automatically change rental amounts.
  • A suggested rental rate is only applied when you select the rate and save the corresponding property or lease update.
  • Market data availability may vary by location.
  • Some jurisdictions, including California and New York, may restrict how rental market data derived from local listings can be used. Review applicable state and local regulations before applying rental rate changes.
