Update an Incorrect Move-in Date
If a tenant is inadvertently moved in with an incorrect move-in date, the date and rent charges can easily be updated in Rentec Direct property management software.
How to Update an Incorrect Move-In Date
It's easy to update a tenant's move-in date.
In your Rentec Direct account:
- Click on Tenants
- Right-click on the tenant and click on Update Lease
- Enter the correct Move-In Date
- Update Accounting
- To only update the Move-In Date - Check No
- To add/change rent charges to the tenant ledger beginning the new Move-In Date - Check Yes
- Removes all historical rent charges
- Posts new rent charges as of the "Move-In Date"
Important Notes:
* This is not recommended unless it's to correct an error in Rent Amount or Begin Charge date from a tenant that was recently moved-in to a property in the software.
* If you are Updating Accounting to remove the historical rent charges on the tenant ledger but would like the system to still reflect the actual move-in date for the tenant, first enter the date you'd like the system to start posting charges and save. Then, come back to these instructions and proceed with steps 4a and 5 to save the actual date of move-in.
* If the property settings create management fees based on Rent Charged, Update Accounting may create duplicate management fees on the property, which can be manually deleted.
- Click on Save Move-In Date
