Rentec Direct Update Move-in Date

How to Update an Incorrect Move-In Date

It's easy to update a tenant's move-in date.

In your Rentec Direct account:

  1. Click on Tenants
  2. Right-click on the tenant and click on Update Lease
  3. Enter the correct Move-In Date
  4. Update Accounting
    1. To only update the Move-In Date - Check No
    2. To add/change rent charges to the tenant ledger beginning the new Move-In Date - Check Yes
      1. Removes all historical rent charges
      2. Posts new rent charges as of the "Move-In Date"

        Important Notes:
        * This is not recommended unless it's to correct an error in Rent Amount or Begin Charge date from a tenant that was recently moved-in to a property in the software.

If you are Updating Accounting to remove the historical rent charges on the tenant ledger but would like the system to still reflect the actual move-in date for the tenant, first enter the date you'd like the system to start posting charges and save. Then, come back to these instructions and proceed with steps 4a and 5 to save the actual date of move-in.

        * If the property settings create management fees based on Rent Charged, Update Accounting may create duplicate management fees on the property, which can be manually deleted.
  5. Click on Save Move-In Date
