Step 3 - Add Owners (PM Accounts)

Rentec PM is designed to manage properties owned by various people or entities (LLCs). It's easy to add new Owners to Rentec Direct.

Adding an Owner

While only minimal information is required, entering complete Owner information upfront helps you get the most out of our automation, reporting, and communication tools.

Tip: As you enter information, hover over the "?" tooltip for more helpful details.

In your Rentec Direct account: 

  1. Click Owners
  2. Click + Add Owner
  3. Enter Owner Details

    Tip: If an individual name and a company name are both added, the company name will be used for reports and correspondence.

  4. Enter owner Contact Info

    System Notes:

    ⭐ Email Address - An email address is required for any email communications to occur through your software and to enable the owner portal

    ⭐ Mobile Phone - A mobile phone number is required to send sms text messaging through your software

    Mailing Address - If ACH information is being entered, a Mailing Address will be required

  5. Owner Portal - Enter this information to allow property owners to log in to their portal and email their login information. Click here to learn more about Owner Portal Features
    1. Check the Enable Owner Portal box
    2. Enter a password or click on the circular arrow icon to generate a temporary password
    3. Click on Save (to save the password)
    4. Check the Email to Owner box to email a welcome message with their login information

      ⭐ Be sure to let the owner know they will be receiving an email with their username, password, and links to download the mobile app for future logging in or share a link with them  Owner Connect for iOS (Apple Devices) or Owner Connect for Android

      System Tip: The email sent to owners is a customizable template that will be used for all owners. Click on Edit template to view or update the message being sent. Learn more here: Customizable Portal Welcome Message

  6. Under Payment Info
    1. Payment Method - Select how you want to pay the owner
    2. From Account - Which of your bank accounts the owner disbursements come out of
    3. Bank Routing and Account numbers - The property owners' account funds are to be deposited into via ACH
  7. Custom Fields - Complete custom fields you've created to automatically populate in leases, letters, forms, and messaging templates. Custom fields are also searchable using the global search tool.

Q) What are Custom Info/Custom Fields?

The Custom Fields tool allows custom data fields (fillable textboxes) to be added to Properties, Tenants, and Owners. Once created, custom data fields will be available to auto-populate data in communications such as Custom Forms, Message Templates, and the Custom Mailing Manager, and when selected, are searchable using the software's Global Search Tool.

Rentec PM was designed for one ownership entity per property. The owner portal, reports, statement, and 1099 features are tied to this designation.
